| Lightning |
|
|
|
The biggest horse at Springwell,
Lightning is simply massive. A big black
Percheron with a huge white blaze, Lightning
towers over all our other horses. He is
very sweet however, and acts like a great
big puppy dog that doesn't know his size.
In fact, our pony Rocky has chased him away
from the hay. Broke to drive and ride, students
can look forward to sleigh and wagon rides
from this strong guy.

| Prince |
|
|
|
From the biggest to the
smallest, we have Prince at the bottom of
the size scale. This is a very unique and
friendly pony who always wants to be in
the middle of the action. He is the first
horse to come trotting over to say hello
when we enter the paddock, and will run
alongside the working horses when they are
riding beside his paddock. Like Lightning,
he is broke to ride and drive, and loves
giving cart rides to riders of all sizes.

| Star |
|
|
|
We call Star our Superstar,
as she is such a great horse. An excellent
all-rounder from beginners to advanced jumping
students, she can do it all. She especially
likes games like pole bending, where she
can really show off her turns. We have recently
put her under Western tack as well, and
she looks even prettier.

| Boomer |
|
|
|
Boomer is an elegant dark
brown thoroughbred with a really adorable
baby face. Just looking at his face, you
would think that he is only about 3 years
old. This handsome boy has quite an impressive
jump in him, and doesn't like to touch the
fences. He also loves to go on long hacks,
and is quiet and forward with just a loose
rein so he can look around and take in all
the scenery. He also loves black jellybeans
and the females in his paddock - he goes
back and forth between Star and Yoyo as
his girlfriend.

| Tex |
|
|
|
Quite possibly the sweetest
horse of the bunch, Tex is a quiet laid
back guy. He loves to go on hacks and will
babysit even the most nervous rider. He
never picks a fight with the other horses
in the paddock over hay, he will just keep
the peace by moving aside and letting the
more dominant horses in. He loves to be
petted and groomed and just generally to
be spoiled by people.

| Rocky |
|
|
|
Our long-time resident
pony, most riders have a love/hate relationship
with Rocky. He makes sure that you ride
properly since if you don't ask him to do
things the correct way, he takes advantage
and does it his own way instead. However,
as riders progress in their instruction,
he quickly becomes a favourite. Nobody has
ever told Rocky that he is just a pony -
in his mind he is bigger than Lightning
and has no problems challenging the bigger
horses in the paddock. Rocky loves mints
and one of the funniest things is to watch
him lick his lips long after the mint is
gone.

| River |
|
|
|
Springwell's youngest horse,
River is a registered paint, light brown
and white in colour. Unfortunately it is
difficult to keep his white nose from being
sunburnt in the summer! Probably the horse
with the most easy going attitude, River
just takes everything in stride and loves
the company of people. We look forward to
having him join the Springwell working ranks
in the near future.

| Yoyo |
|
|
|
Although a donkey and not
a horse, this beautiful grey creature is
part of the Springwell Family. Legend is
glad to finally not be the one with the
biggest ears in the paddock (we won't tell
him that Yoyo is a donkey!). Although shy
at first, she is becoming more part of the
herd, and will now let people scratch her
head.
